Future Clues In Zombie Film Sugar Hill (1974) That Night Court Would Be Back On Television In 2024!
I point out some future / predictive hints in 1974 zombie revenge blaxploitation horror film Sugar Hill to NBC TV comedy sketch show Night Court (1984-1992 / 2023-2025):
- Your big clue is Charles Robinson who had a part in Sugar Hill as Morgan's gangster Fabulous. He was later Court Clerk Mac in Night Court.
- Marki Bey plays Sugar, who exchanges her soul for command of a Zombie army to exact revenge upon Morgan and his goons, responsible for killing her lover Langston. Her name may be suggestive to Markie Post who played Christine Sullivan in Night Court.
- The actual future year (2024) in which the revived Night Court would be broadcast can be seen through a rather circuitous analysis of the cast and their other film roles. Robert Quarry was later in Fred Olen Ray sci-fi film Alienator (1990) with Robert Clarke. 1960 science fiction movie Beyond The Time Barrier starred Clarke as a test pilot hurled into the future year of 2024. The revived Night Court would be in it's second season in that year.
- The 2023 version of Night Court introduces female judge Abby Stone (Melissa Rauch). I thought Marki Bey's character in Sugar Hill may be suggestive to this in her demeanor and that she hunts down and confronts each henchman of the gang (think Judge Dredd). There is some legalese lingo dropped into the dialogue as well.
- Actor Robert Quarry was in two Count Yorga vampire films in the early 1970's. The Return Of Count Yorga in 1971 also starred Mariette Hartley. A scene in this around the 53 minute mark has her character, Cynthia trying to find her way out of the count's labyrinthine mansion and stumbles into a room full of suits of armor, the type that European style midieval knights wore. So possibly a homophone hint: KNIGHT VS NIGHT (COURT).
- Hartley was earlier in classic Star Trek TV episode All Our Yesterdays & in this also the justice system of 17th century England is highlighted when Captain Kirk is grabbed by constables.
